The perfect Azores itinerary for firsttime visitors ( updated in 2021)

You asked this same question previously and it was answered. Is there something that you do not understand? Given that you will be in the Azores only for five days, the only practical way to get to Flores from Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel is by air and the only airline is the government-owned SATA. Only you know which dates you will travel, your flexibility, etc.

Island hopping from Sao Miguel to Madeira

KBF-Normally, we recommend, taking the SATA flight, due to its frequency (daily departures), and the amount of time traveling, between Sao Miguel and the other islands.. The only time we recommend ferries is between, the triangle islands (Faial, Pico and Sao Jorge)with Transmacor, as they are fast , reliable, and frequent (daily departures).

Blue Line The Blue line operates just between the islands of Faial (Horta) and Pico (Madalena). It is a quick 30-minute ride and you will find multiple routes in either direction per day. Green Line The Green line also operates between Faial and Pico but also adds in the island of Sao Jorge (Velas), as well as a second port on Pico (Sao Roque).

How to get around the Azores islands

There are multiple ferries between Pico and Faial, but not so much between Sao Jorge. Our original ferry wasn't supposed to leave until 7:30 at night which meant we'd get to Sao Jorge in time to go to bed. With the storm, we didn't get there until noon or so the next day. This was the busiest trip we've ever taken.
